Archives & Collections Volunteer (Sculptor boat conservation crew)
Join us as part of the boat crew, helping us conserve Sculptor and move her for display and maintenance purposes. It's a great chance to come aboard!
We are especially looking for those who are very local to the area, as she needs very regular checks!
Sculptor was built as a Small Northwich motor boat of the Star Class by W. J. Yarwood Ltd in 1935. She was a motor boat of one of 12 pairs of motors and butties and was delivered to the Grand Union Canal Carrying Company in November 1935
Sculptor is one of just a few historic working boats that still lives on the canal. Originally owned by the Grand Union Canal Carrying Company, Sculptor was used to carry a variety of cargo, such as cotton and coal.
As a leading heritage charity, we’ve deal with many fantastic historic items on a day to day basis.
Some of the other Collections activities are within our museums at Ellesmere Port, Gloucester and Stoke Bruerne. The millions of visitors to our waterways, museums and attractions are intrigued by our wonderful 200 year old network.
