Ambassador Volunteer (Leicester)

Opportunity image

Join the Canal & River Trust as an Ambassador and help to connect more people to our canals. Your role will help to preserve our nation’s history and keep canals alive. You will have the opportunity to support some incredible events, be part of a supportive team network, and gain a new appreciation for our unique environment.

We are looking for volunteers to get involved in a number of ways to encourage people in Leicester to enjoy and start using the waterway more. This is an interesting and varied role.

Tasks may include the following:

• supporting or leading walks in the area (we are looking to develop a number of walks including Nordic walking, sensory walks, mindful walks, photography walks)

• supporting at family events with craft and other activities

• supporting with litter picking activities both on the tow path and in the water

• working with pupils at schools in the area near the waterway

• outreach to community groups to promote the project

We are looking for volunteers who can offer long-term commitment to the project but there is flexibility in terms of when you volunteer and with which tasks, in other words you will not have to commit to volunteering on a particular day every week.

We need your support to help build support from those who have yet to discover our network. As an Ambassador, no one day is the same and you will get the chance to experience a diverse array of volunteer opportunities all across our regions.
