Towpath Team Volunteer (Huddersfield Family Litter Taskforce)

Opportunity image

This a unique opportunity for families to come out and join us in on the Huddersfield Canals and help keep Huddersfield looking it best.

We are looking for parents with children aged 7 to 14 to volunteer on a Saturday morning each month.

We will be running the events on the 2nd Saturday of each month!

Our main aim will be collect litter and remove graffiti from the tow path. However, we are specifically looking for families as we believe the benefits of being outside, working with others and giving back to the community are valuable for all but there are just not enough opportunity for young families out there. It's a great chance to meet similar people, do something important and learn about how we look after the canals and rivers.

These teams are always led by a Lead Volunteer, who will make sure that you have the best time and help care for the local waterways.

This Taskforce will involve a short walk down the tow path. We will meet at Aspley Marina and then walk on the Huddersfield Board Canal to Fieldhouse Lock (1.5 miles - roughly 40 mins). Volunteers can then either walk back with the Volunteer Leader or return home using access at Red Doles Lane or Peace Pitt Lane.
