Volunteer Lock-Keeper (Freight Passage Volunteer: New Junction to Doncaster)

This opportunity is to assist with commercial freight movements along the New Junction Canal towards Doncaster Lock and return.

This role involves travelling ahead of a working freight vessel and preparing the route to ensure a smooth and uninterrupted passage along the navigation.

Duties include:

1. Assisting with the operation of road and canal bridges along the New Junction Canal.

2. Lowering or raising bridges to allow the vessel to pass safely.

3. Preparing and operating locks where they are unmanned.

4. Moving ahead of the vessel by road to the next bridge or lock location.

5. Ensuring structures are safely returned to normal operation once the vessel has passed.l variations may apply).
