Help keep Leeds' waterways thriving

Looking for a meaningful way to spend a few hours outdoors? Join our friendly conservation volunteer team and help care for the canals at the heart of Leeds.

Whether you work in the city, live nearby or simply want to give something back to nature, this is a great opportunity to make a real difference. Every session is hands-on and varied – from improving green spaces and caring for wildlife habitats to painting, litter picking and helping maintain the historic canal network. No two days are quite the same, and you'll see the impact of your work straight away.

No previous experience is needed – just enthusiasm and a willingness to get stuck in. We'll provide the training, equipment and support you need.

Volunteering with us is a chance to enjoy fresh air, learn practical conservation skills, meet like-minded people and take a break from the pace of city life. Whether you can join us regularly or have a little spare time to give, every contribution helps keep Leeds' waterways welcoming for people and nature alike.

Come along, get involved and help us make a lasting difference to one of Leeds' most treasured green-blue spaces. We'd love to hear from you, even if you just have questions. Get in touch with Milly Hall at milly.hall@canalrivertrust.org.uk — no pressure, just a friendly conversation.
