Towpath Team Volunteer (Ashton Canal - Various Locations)
Join Our Ashton Canal Towpath Taskforce and help keep our waterways thriving.
Become part of something special by joining our Ashton Canal Towpath Taskforce and helping to protect the history, heritage, and beauty of our waterways. This hands-on volunteer role offers the opportunity to explore the many beautiful locations along our canal network while making a real, visible difference to the places people love to visit.
As part of the team, you could be:
- Cutting back vegetation around aqueducts and other canal structures
- Litter picking
- Removing graffiti and improving urban spaces
- Helping to maintain towpaths and canal infrastructure
- Supporting planned maintenance of our waterways
Whatever the task, you'll be part of a friendly team that takes pride in keeping our canals safe, welcoming, and full of life.

The team meets every Wednesday 10:00am – 2:00pm
Activity Locations:-
1st Friday of the month - Droylsden - Locks 18-13
2nd Friday of the month - Clayton - Locks 13-6
3rd Friday of the month - Ancoats - Locks 6-1
Work party locations are confirmed each month in our volunteer newsletter, sent on the 21st of every month. These, however, can be subject to change based on operational capacity.
