Conservation Volunteer (Macclesfield Canal Taskforce)

We are excited to share this opportunity to join our local operations team and work with a wide range of volunteers. We are looking for enthusiastic and committed individuals to help maintain and improve the Macclesfield Canal. This is a new role on a new team that will focus on litter picking, vegetation cutbacks, lock painting, mending towpaths and fencing repair. This is a hands-on role, working outdoors and learning new skills. If you want to find out more about our canal networks whilst actively taking part in their restoration this is the role for you!

Events will run on Thursday’s between 10:00-14:30. We will be working along the length of the Macclesfield canal in varied locations that could include Marple, Bollington, Macclesfield, and Congleton. Once you have registered as a volunteer you will receive invites to upcoming events.

Tools, equipment and training will all be provided. Training opportunities could include; helming boats, brush cutter/strimmer, pole saw and hedge trimmer. No experience is needed, just a can-do attitude.

There are small number of online training courses that are linked and compulsory to this role all of which are accessible via our volunteer portal.
