Conservation Volunteer (Chesterfield canal Volunteers)

Opportunity image

Come join us today as a Volunteer on The Chesterfield Canal and be part of a team dedicated to preserving our waterways and keeping history alive. In this role, you'll have the opportunity to explore the diverse landscapes of our beautiful network while contributing to the maintenance of our structures and assets.

Join us from 9:30am to 2:30pm for a fulfilling day's work along the picturesque Chesterfield Canal. Tasks vary depending on the season and location, ranging from lock maintenance to wildlife habitat improvements. No matter the task, all necessary tools and equipment will be provided, along with guidance from our experienced and friendly Volunteer Team Leader, Lee Taylor. Whether you're clearing vegetation around aqueducts or removing graffiti in urban areas, our Conservators work tirelessly to ensure the beauty of our canals remains accessible to all. This is a chance to make a significant impact in your community while deepening your understanding of the local canal system.

Feel free to attend any or all sessions – it's a fantastic opportunity to connect with fellow volunteers, develop new skills, and contribute to the enhancement of our waterway environment. No prior experience is required, just a willingness to lend a hand. Safety procedures and instructions will be provided on the day, so come dressed in comfortable, old clothing and sturdy footwear if possible.
