Available from 14 January 2025 to 12 December 2024
Join us today as a Conservator Volunteer and help keep history alive by preserving our waterways!
We have an upcoming project to rebuild two sections of the waterway walls on the Diggle Lock flight. While experience in building walls, particularly dry stone walls, would be advantageous, it is not essential.
The work will involve operating in waders or wellingtons in a dewatered section of the canal, Manual handling and a variety of construction techniques will be used.
The project is expected to take between 3 to 5 days, but additional time can be arranged if needed.
Please note that the weather conditions are likely to be cold, so suitable workwear will be necessary. Work gloves, waders, and tools will be provided. An onsite operative will lead the project and will be available to offer instruction and support throughout the activity and will be available to offer instruction and support throughout the activity.
