Education Volunteer (Young Volunteer 18-27 LONDON)
Are you aged 18-27 and interested in gaining experience in conservation, the environment or STEM and working with young people? If so, our Young Volunteer role could help develop your potential!
Once applying, you will have a one-to-one online meeting to learn more about our work. We will suggest opportunities that will aid your development and support your skills. You can choose your hours, volunteer locations, sessions, workshops and events. All travel costs are reimbursed.
Our volunteers lead conservation walks, support and deliver STEM, conservation & heritage workshops and also design and lead their own sessions. We engage young people aged 12-25 by working with secondary schools, sixth forms and other education and youth providers.
Examples of opportunities you could volunteer with include:
- Supporting/leading secondary/sixth-form waterside visits
- Supporting/leading in-person school assemblies/workshops
- Supporting/developing public ticketed events
- GIS support, fieldwork and workshop development
- Delivering remote webinars
- Supporting/leading sixth-form conservation volunteering
- Marketing sessions to secondary schools and sixth-forms
We give you full training and provide resources for supporting school group visits, including training days and team meetings. You will have the support of the London STEM Lead as well as the other volunteers in your team.
This role involves regulated activity with children and adults at risk, as defined by the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012. Therefore, an Enhanced Criminal Record check will be undertaken, and references will be sought. A criminal record is not necessarily a bar to volunteering with us.
