Supporting Volunteer (Administration and Data Support)
Take advantage of this fantastic opportunity to learn new skills and become a valued part of the Asset Management team. In this role you will assist our engineers with various administration and data management tasks, all from the Gloucester office in the Gloucester Waterways Museum. The days and time volunteered is flexible and can be worked around your and the engineer’s schedules.
The Asset Management Team cares for vital assets (locks, weirs, towpaths, and more!) found throughout the 2000+ mile, 250-year-old network of waterways owned by the Canal and River Trust. It is crucial to the Trust that we keep our canals safe for the public, in great condition, and meeting our legal requirements. You will see how the team achieves this through our inspection procedures and data management.
There are many different tasks that you could get involved in. Training will be provided for every task, and someone from the Asset Management team will always be close by if you need help. Some examples of tasks are:
- Organising and identifying paper files, reports, and drawings for digitising
- Copying and viewing CDs
- Managing the transfer of files and photos to the Trust’s shared storage
- Uploading new/ missing records to asset files
- Gathering asset data for projects throughout the Trust, including work packages
You’ll be welcome to join the team and other volunteers on visits to asset locations to get a better idea of what we do onsite. If this role sounds interesting but you have some questions about the role, please contact reanne.bower@canalrivertrust.org.uk.
