Volunteer Lock-Keeper (Volunteer Lock Keeper Welcome Event - Gargrave)

On Tuesday April 29th, between 09:30 and 12:30, we will be hosting a volunteer lock keeper welcome event at Higherland Lock, Gargrave

Lock keepers have been a fixture on Britain’s canals for hundreds of years and are one of the oldest traditions of the waterways. As ‘the face of the waterway’, modern-day volunteer lock keepers play an integral part in the visitor experience. Their role is to provide a polite and friendly welcome to waterway visitors, assisting boaters through the locks and helping to maintain the area.

We would invite anyone who may be interested in becoming a volunteer lock keeper, or who just wants to learn more about the history of the waterways, and how the Canal River Trust is caring for them, to drop in and say hello. Just click on the link below and choose an approximate time when you may be in the area, we look forward to meeting you all.
