Waterside Specialist (Volunteer Reservoir Inspector)
Join our team to help monitor the four reservoirs that supply water to the Macclesfield and Peak Forest Canals. These are Toddbrook, Combs, Bosley and Sutton.
In this role you will assist in undertaking these inspections by monitoring levels, reporting defects, looking for any changes and responding appropriately to anything you find. You will need an eye for detail and a willingness to be trained, in both theory and practical aspects of the task. You will be required to fill in details of your inspection on an app, on your mobile phone or tablet.
You will also need to be personable and able to develop relationships, as you will often be approached by members of the public with questions about the waterways. You may also need to develop relationships with boating clubs, angling society members, and local residents. It's a great way to help keep fit as a full day walking around our four reservoirs will soon boost your step count!
It is the perfect opportunity for those who enjoy working in the outdoors and are perhaps looking for something different to do and want to help support the Canal & River Trust. The key qualities we’re looking for are enthusiasm and a willingness to learn.
