Ambassador Volunteer (Canal Promotional Events)

Summary: Join the Canal & River Trust as an Ambassador and help to connect more people to our canals. Your role will help to preserve our nation’s history and keep canals alive. You will have the opportunity to support some incredible events, be part of a supportive team network, and gain a new appreciation for our unique environment.

We need your support to help build support from those who have yet to discover our network. As an Ambassador, no one day is the same and you will get the chance to experience a diverse array of volunteer opportunities all across our region from fundraising, to educating on open days.

Cropredy Fairport Thursday 13th and Friday 14th August At the fringe of the Fairport Convention, this year we will be offering a plethora of family activities to help engage people with the canals near them. We need help with manning some of these activities and talking to people about your experiences with the Trust. Mike and Alex will be there to organise while we welcome people 09:00-17:00

Open Doors Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th September Oxford's massive heritage weekend, where places not normally open to the public will be open. This includes Isis Lock in the centre of Oxford where we will have a pop-up museum complete with exhibits, hands on artifacts, talks and walks, and other workshops. We will be at the lock from 09:00, opening to the public at 10:00-16:00.

Oxford Canal Festival Saturday 19th September This biannual celebration of the Oxford Canal is one of the biggest hits on our section. Alex and Mike are looking for a couple of people to come and help talk about your experiences volunteering with the Trust, and what the Trust is up to at the moment (with a briefing sheet).

Banbury Canal Festival Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th October An important event on our calendar to engage with the local Banbury community.
